Bargara Village

Bargara is the main seaside community of the Coral Coast, just a 15 minute drive east of the City of Bundaberg.

The village offers a peaceful and relaxed environment with an array of local amenities and recreational facilities, all within a safe walking distance. There are numerous dining options to choose from, whether alfresco or restaurant, and a delightful village shopping precinct and modern supermarket complex.


The wonderfully picturesque foreshore overlooks quaint beach coves that can be enjoyed under the shaded seating of pagodas nestled along the oceanfront. This landscaped foreshore, designed with the environment in  mind, has a walking trail that stretches from Nielson Park Beach south to Kelley's Beach or north to Mon Repos Beach and all the way to Burnett Heads.

The Nielson Park area provides a safe stinger-free patrolled surf beach, picnic areas, children's playground, skate bowl and bikeways.

Recreational Facilities

Recreational facilities include a picturesque and challenging 18 hole Championship Golf Course at Bargara ( and another 4 courses within a short drive), Tennis and Bowls.

There are numerous basins that provide good snorkelling opportunities for all ages, as well as artificial reefs and beach areas for fishing.

Southern Great Barrier Reef

Located at the southernmost access point of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, the Bargara region offers excellent boat dive locations plus snorkelling and reef fishing locations. Day trips are available to Lady Musgrave Island and Lady Elliott Island

Mon Repos Turtle Experience.

The world famous Mon Repos Turtle Centre is nearby (8 kms), which supports the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland and has the most significant loggerhead turtle nesting population in the South Pacific ocean region. Magical ranger guided environmental encounters are conducted during the turtle breeding season. Turtle nesting occurs annually from November to January and hatching from January to end of March. Tours operate seven nights a week and bookings are essential.

Barolin Nature Reserve

The Barolin Nature Reserve is a large area of natural bush, grassy plains and wetlands near the coastal town of Bargara. Koola Beach Apartments sits directly on the southern edge of the reserve, and it contains over 4km of walking tracks stretching north to the Mon Repos Conservation Park. The area exemplifies the beautiful Australian bush, with blue gums, rainforest trees, silver leafed paperbarks and is home to over 135 species of birds.
